On monday nov 30, YouTube stopped working around 5 PM Eastern Time. Now this is my case, and my friend who is also on the same ISP (Cabelvison). I live at Brighton 2nd st 11235 and he lives about a mile away from me. His situation was quite weird, he was telling me that Youtube was loading for his brother and not for him, so I at first thought its a computer issue, but when I tried to load youtube and it did not I started to think its an issue with the browser, so after 4 different browsers nothing changed. The loading would get stuck around 30%. Yet youtube would load almost fully on the Opera browser but it did not load any css or javascript, and the videos did not work (since javascript was not loaded i guess) and this load took about 5 minutes.

This was around 6pm already so I decided to search the Internet, unfortunately searches like YouTube is down did not produce anything helpful, yet I was able to find a new post on Mashable (http://mashable.com/2009/11/01/youtube-down-outage/). Reading the post I concluded that its not a browser issue nor is it isolated to Brooklyn.

I spent Monday night and early Tuesday wasting my time on the internet searching for alternative video sources. (I will make a blog post about my findings later)

Tuesday December 1st, morning I checked at home and YouTube was still not loading, when I reached school,  I checked and YouTube was loading, so I guess it was resolved. Other Students at NYU POLY which is also in Brooklyn NYC, confessed that YouTube was not loading for them and they thought it was a browser issue.

The real problem is the lack of support from YouTube and Google on this matter, nothing has yet been posted by them about this outage, nor have ISPs posted anything or blamed anyone. It would be ironic if this was actually an ISP problem, nevertheless someone has to be blamed for this, we are talking about 15 hours of downtime, that is crazy when the website down is YouTube.
